A massa do bolo deverá ser consistente para que possa manter a forma: bolo de chocolate ou bolo de iogurte são boas opções.
This was the birthday cake I made for 7th anniversary of Afonso. Several people asked me how to make a cake completely round and as promised here is the explanation of how I did it.
The dough of the cake should be consistent so that it can keep in shape: chocolate cake or cake yogurt are good options.
Get a cake tin with a shape of a half ball. To make a whole ball is not advisable to use a very large one. The one I used (in photo) to bake the cake is 15 cm/ 6 in in diameter.
Use uma faca de lâmina comprida e afiada para acertar o bolo pelo topo da forma, depois de cozido e antes de desenformar.
Grease the form with butter. Cut strips of wax paper and place it in a cross shape in order to facilitate unmolding of the cake after cooking. The dough must not exceed two thirds of the way, or will exit when you are cooking. Can also use a strip around the top in order to prevent overflow when baking the dough. Use a long and sharp blade knife to cut the cake at the top of the form, after cooking and before unmolding.
After baking, set and unmold the two halves, let them cool and place them in the refrigerator about 1 hour: this allows better handle without crumbling. To join and cover cakes, in order to make a ball, melt 200 g chocolate culinary in 100 ml milk.
Using the mixture of chocolate spread and join the two ends of the half ball to make a complete ball. Also covers all the ball with the mixture.
Use pasta de açucar e/ou chocopan (pasta de chocolate moldável) das cores pretendidas. A pasta deve ser bem amassada e estendida com um rolo da massa sobre uma superfície anti-aderente.
Use sugar paste and / or chocopan (mouldable chocolate paste) of the desired colors. The paste should be well kneaded and stretched out with a rolling pin on a non-stick surface.
Cover the entire ball with white paste. This prevents the chocolate used earlier to be seen through the slots of pentagons and hexagons that you will cut and "glue" to the ball to make the effect of soccer ball.
The soccer balls are made of white hexagons and pentagons of darker shades. If you get cutting molds, make sure the sides are exactly the same measures, so that the ball hits right. I could not find, so I cut out a hexagon and a pentagon on cardboard and used it to cut the sugar paste with a knife.
Extend sugar paste with a rolling pin so as to have an identical height. Cut about 20 white hexagons and 12 pentagons of a darker shade (green in the photo). Starting with the darker, go putting the pentagons and hexagons in the ball, so that the ends are together, until fills in the entire ball.
E está pronto!!
After I stretched sugarpaste in order to make a scarf surrounding the ball to give it some stability.
